Hi Glenn,

Jim gave you the long answer.  The short answer is NO.  :-)

Get on the air, talk to as many people as you like, and have fun...

All you really need to know in any particular contest is the exchange 
needed for that contest.

If you ask a contester on-air during a contest, they'll usually be happy 
to slow down and tell you what you need to do and then work you for 
their log.

(I say "usually" because there are a few overly-competitive jerks out 
there who put contesting above being human beings and they'll just QRZ? 
and ignore you.  Don't let 'em bother you... they're very messed up 
people who need an attitude adjustment with a Wouff Hong.)
