While I respect his right to have his own opinion... much of that
article could have been titled "Contesting, My Way or the Highway."
Everyone I've talked to who read that article had issues with the way
he wrote his own special brand of contesting into the umbrella of "ethics."

If people are going to be rigid and un-accepting of new comers into
this hobby/sport, we're going to have problems attracting new
participants. This doesn't reflect the attitudes I've seen around the
DM79 area. People have been helpful, accepting and willing to guide
new contesters.

I agree with you Nate, and while I'm all for competing in a fair
contest, we need to be helping people just as much as we are making
sure we're all following the rules. I own at least 80-90% of any
score I get to someone else who either helped me out getting on the
band itself, or was active in the contest so I had someone to make
the contact with. If people hesitate getting into contesting for fear
of breaking somebody's lame interpretation of the rules, that doesn't
help the rest of us.

Get on the air, take part in contests, let the nay-sayers write
articles while we're all out having fun..

Thanks,
