I won't say anything else other than to check out the rules about
spotting networks... only certain classes can use them.
W3ZZ did a "VHF Contesting Ethics" column in QST recently (this month or
last) -- that's an interesting read.
Just about everyone seriously active out here breaks at least three or
four of his "ethical" rules out here all the time.
Personally, I don't even agree with some of them he discussed. And I'll
always put being a courteous ham ahead of contest rules...
(I respect Gene and his group's accomplishments, but that doesn't mean I
can't respectfully disagree with things in his articles in the magazine.)
For example: If a new microwave operator shows up, I'm going to figure
out a way to help them. If that means I announced his/her position to
someone else (spotted them) to help them get a contact on that new
microwave gear, and get a good feeling that setting up a new band was
worth it -- and someone wants my score DQ'ed -- fine. Take it.

You're right, it would be nice, but it's not possible under the current
contest rules.
